Millions of workers are required to wear respirators in workplaces throughout the United States. Respirators protect workers against harmful dust, smok e, mist, gas, vapor, and oxygen deficient environments. Respirators protect the user in two basic ways: removing of contaminants from theair and supplying clean air to the user.Cal/OSHA’s Respiratory Protection regulation is always one of the top 10 most cited regulations.At this seminar, you will learn:
- How do you know when employees need tow ear a respirator?
- How do you know what type of respirator to use?
- Can anyone wear a respirator?
- Is a “dust mask” a respirator?
This is a courtesy seminar offered by Tolman & Wiker Insurance Services and Cal/OSHA Consultation Services to our valued business community and friends.

We will also discuss:
- What is voluntary use of respirators?
- What is “fit testing” & when is it required?
- What about respirators & employees with beards?
- Does using a respirator require a medical exam for that employee?
- Does Cal/OSHA have other options or requirements instead of respirators?
Please make sure all attendees arrive at least 15 minutes ahead to sign in; classes will begin on time. Ample free parking is available in the rear of the building.
Parking is limited to 2-hours directly in front of the office. There is all-day parking available surrounding the city park across the street, as well as a parking structure on Santa Clara Street between California & Chestnut.

About the Speaker
Mr. Dan Leiner
Dan Leiner has extensive experience in occupational safety and health. His experience includes having been an industrial hygiene consultant for six years with Cal/OSHA. Dan is also an instructor with the University of California, San Diego’s OSHA Training Institute Education Center.
